| Bizzare network issue This is the most bizarre network issue I ever came across. I have been fighting with this for several days now and could not figure out whats wrong with my PC. Hopefully, someone here can help me with this. I have IE7 installed and even though I have the network connection, it does not open any websites. It cannot ping to the default gateway, which happens to be my router, either. I see all the information when I do IPCONFIG /ALL. everything is normal compared to the other PCs on the network. I am sure there is nothing wrong with my router cause the rest of the 3 systems in the network are OK. The following cases that I tried did not work (both wireless and wired network) - IE7, IE7 (No add ons), Mozilla, PING At one moment, I tried connecting my PC directly to the cable modem but strangely, I was only able to open some HTTPS sites. Nothing else. I am not sure if this is some kind of virus or spyware but I scanned the PC with several different anti virus softwares but did not find any. The main thing is I am able to access the internet when I am in safe-mode, but you know we cant do much in this mode. Can someone please help!!!!!!!! Thanks. | Re: Bizzare network issue Turn the firewall off and try to connect to the router. If it helps, then the firewall is set to stop everything. Then look at the Intel Pro ( Intel Zero Config MFC ) if there is everything set to run. Play with it a while. I would suggest to shutdown few programs(net), to see what caused the problem. I think, that firewall or a intel - software caused the problem. |

| Re: Bizzare network issue I tried several different things. I disabled all the processes at the startup using msconfig. no help. disabled windows firewall, disabled anti virus and anti-spyware, disabled wireless zero configuration (and enabled), even stopped all the services manually that were not running in safe mode. I am not sure what other programs (net) should I disable. I am getting ready to repair XP installation. Its funny that you say "play with it for a while"...I have been playing with it for 5 days now!! |

| Re: Bizzare network issue this happened to me. when upgrade to IE7 it became hell bent on using dialup |
| ||
| Re: Bizzare network issue Well, I have been using IE7 for almost 2 months now and suddenly I ran into this!!! |
| ||
| Re: Bizzare network issue oh thats wierd have you done a windows update recently, maybe it screwed something up? |
| ||
| Re: Bizzare network issue That is possible. but there is no way that I can figure out what I installed recently unless I go to windows update. this is like a catch 22 situation. I cannot check that update history unless I am online. but if I go online in safe mode, I cannot access the update site because it wont run in safe mode!!! I was just using the netstat to see what happened to the port 80, which is for HTTP, I think. i dont even see the port in the list!! |

| Re: Bizzare network issue It look more on a issue in the Windows rather then in "security". I suggest to newinstall the windows and use a alternative to Windows explorer. |
