Recommended Web Hosts

This thread is reserved for good web hosts only. If you have used them, that's even better. It's sometimes hard to find a good web host, so maybe this can make it a little easier on us. Also, please try to find an outside source that agrees with your opinion of the host and post it here. It will show us that you're not the only one that thinks it's good.

Here's a list of recommended web hosts. I use:

http://www.icdsoft.com - it's a great service for a good price. Technical support is excellent, and I've never had a problem with them. They also receive excellent ratings throughout the web.

These two provide a bigger package than icdsoft, and are still relatively cheap. I have not tried them, but I've heard great things from them. Also, they have good reviews:If you want to see a review for your web site, go to:
http://www.webhostingratings.com - I also recommend you search on google.com to see what other people think of the host.

If you have a very low postcount, (less than five), it will be considered spam. I will do a quick search and see if it's worthwhile. If I don't find anything, I will delete it.

WebHostingTalk is a great place to keep your finger on the pulse of the hosting industry. I personally think I am the best host in the world, but my opinion may be baised. I only do it to support my clients. I think I have 3 sites hosted on my servers that are ones I ddin't develop.

Yes, the server that DaniWeb is on now (ServerMatrix) I found out about through WHT. They're also a great place to keep up to date on the latest trends, etc. My only criticism is that perhaps they are starting to get a lil bit too spammy.

Re: Recommended Web Hosts

I'd recommend the following for shared hosting:

- UnitedHosting.co.uk (Ensim based)
- Netrillium.net (cPanel based)

Both companies offer excellent support, good uptimes and are the better hosting providers out there. Netrillium have servers in different data centres, whereas United Hosting is EV1Servers-centric.

For dedicated hosting:

- EV1Servers.net

They have extremely good support for a non-managed dedicated server provider. No issues with any of the servers I've had there and I now own my own cPanel dual Xeon 2.4Ghz box with 2Gb RAM and Ultra320 SCSI drives for a very good price indeed.

Regards,

Martyn

right now im using www.powweb.com and they are great. they are pretty cheap at 7.77 per month and you get a gig of storage and 5 gigs of transfer per day :) the only thing i dont like is no ssh access but what i can i do i guess :) they also have a great community of users which is odd for a hosting company so if you ask in the forums first you will likely get a good answer and the support is also great you hear from them within a few hours which is awsome :)

Actually, most of these places that you guys are suggesting i wouldnt touch with a ten foot poll, let alone my ten foot poll.

powweb' has TONS of problems if your bulletin board or website will ever be huge

dreamhost << more problems than i want to get into

dont even get me started on lunrapages, they just dont know what the HELL they are talking about in any sense

They want LARGE vBulletin based forums to switch to phpBB because, phpbb is LESS server intensive, so they say.

And if you dont switch to their "larger" plan to use vBulleitn they will revoke your account.
