| Virus/Vundo infection (hijack log included) My laptop (XP home/SP2) started running slow and I started getting IE popups about a week ago (even though I use Firefox). I ran McAfee virus scan and it found vundo/viruses and deleted them. But the popups persisted. I then ran vundofix and it found about 6 files and deleted them. Now the popups still appeared, but said "page could not be found." I then used Security Task Manager to delete some additional questionable .exe and .dll files. Still getting the popups, and while my pc is running a little faster, it's still more sluggish than normal. I haven't had a virus in over 4 years... How can I get rid of this thing? I've pasted the hijack log below. Thanks for the help! ///////////// Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 2:46:55 PM, on 6/23/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16473) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\ConfigFree\CFSvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\DVDRAMSV.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\FrameworkService.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\mcshield.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\vstskmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Applet\thotkey.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSMain.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\SHSTAT.EXE C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Zooming Utility\SmoothView.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Touch and Launch\PadExe.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSBattM.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSCDSPD\toscdspd.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RAMASST.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\imabunny.exe R0 - | Re: Virus/Vundo infection (hijack log included) After posting this, I saw the post instructing to download and run AVG Anti-Spyware prior to posting. I completed the scan and it found 2 trojans and 400+ other items. I rebooted but this did not fix the problem. And unfortunately the "save report" button was disabled so I do not have a log for that. But I did run another hijack after the AVG scan (just in case); the log appears below. Thanks. ///////// Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 5:03:38 PM, on 6/23/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16473) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\ConfigFree\CFSvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\DVDRAMSV.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\FrameworkService.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\mcshield.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\vstskmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Applet\thotkey.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSMain.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\SHSTAT.EXE C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Zooming Utility\SmoothView.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Touch and Launch\PadExe.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSCDSPD\toscdspd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSBattM.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RAMASST.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\NOTEPAD.EXE C:\Program Files\imabunny.exe R0 - | Re: Virus/Vundo infection (hijack log included) A couple of things to deal with, Denis, and you should be clean. First, did you add this to your trusted zone? O15 - Trusted Zone: *.westlaw.com If not, add it to the list of things to fix with Hijackthis.. which is pretty short. Fix this entry with Hijackthis: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ExploreUpdSched] C:\WINDOWS\system32\owinlndt.exe CHD003 Done? Then browse to and delete this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\owinlndt.exe Check that it stays gone after a restart. Because of the infections you had, please would you run Combofix: ==Download this file to your desktop: http://www.techsupportforum.com/sect...s/ComboFix.exe ...or from here: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe - to run it dclick combofix.exe and follow the prompts to start it. When finished, it will produce a log, C:\Combofix.txt - post that log in your next reply. A word of caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop. |
