Pls Hlp me with Hijackthis log file.
 
Hi,
Recently I'm unable to get my modem connected to the internet to my pc using winxp os. I tried uninstall and reinstall my modem. I saw the networking link lighted for the first few minutes when i on my pc. But soon after i logged on to my account in winxp, the light on the modem networking link was gone. I've already scanned my pc with adaware and spybot but its still not working. I'm able to get connected to the internet using the same modem with my other pc. I'm really stumped now. Pls Help! Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\Program Files\MyWay-folder
C:\Program Files\QuickSearch-folder
C:\Program Files\WindUpdates-folder

C:\WINDOWS\System32\[b]qvvni.exe[/b[-file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ui7410.exe-file

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log please.

Go here for an on-line scan & set it to autoclean for you.

Try this scan as well.

Good day. Thx a million for ur help Crunchie. I really appreciate it. I'm already able to get connected to that modem after HJT fixed the problems. Would u be kind enuff to advise me on what measures i should take to prevent being hijacked time and again coz my boys mostly use that pc for their school project and downloading songs and games. Even spybot and adaware could not fix such problems.

Get spyware blaster from the link in my signature & update it once a week or so. Follow the other link in my sig for browser settings. Keep Adaware & spybot up-to-date too.

Could I also see another log please.

Hi. There are still some nasties there. Also you need to update hijackthis to version 1.98 before your next post. Start hijackthis & go to config\Misc Tools\Update.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\WinUpdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AceGain LiveUpdate] E:\UserData\LiveUpdate.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

E:\UserData-folder

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log please.

That looks good now. Can you restore the Acegain, or did you not fix it?

I had HJT fixed it for me but has not restored it. No idea how to. Havent heard any complaints from my son so far... :lol:

If need be you can restore it from the back up that hijackthis created. It will be in the same folder as HJT.
