I turn it back on and then I check Windows Defender, because it was the one that warned me. It showned me this. Category: Trojan Description: This program displays advertisements and may be difficult to remove. Advice: Remove this software immediately. Resources: process: pid:4908 file: C:\Windows\system32\sstsp.dll But I've used Vundo and I saw "file: C:\Windows\system32\sstsp.dll" So, did I do it right? I don't really know, I'm not a expert, I was just fooling around, but I did get some help here from the forums. (Well the programs that were showned, it really helped me a lot!). Please if anyone could help me and saw something odd in my logfile, please tell me! I'm still getting random advertisements and it's damaging my computer. Please help. =*( EDIT: Ah, the virus is called Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Hello, it would have been nice to have seen the vundo report.... vundofix would have deleted the files it found, but there appear to be more, certainly you have other malware there. Let's do this: Please rename hijackthis.exe to imabunny.exe - this is important. I see that you ran vundofix online? Please try it this way: ==Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 Double-click VundoFix.exe to start it, click the Scan for Vundo button. When the scan completes click the Remove Vundo button. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files - click YES Your desktop will then go blank as the process of removing Vundo starts. When completed it will prompt that it will restart your computer - click OK. Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot. Next, start hijackthis, select Scan Only, place checkmarks against all the entries listed below that still exist, and then press Fix Checked. O2 - BHO: (no name) - {64A661E8-C8E0-4C78-845D-11DD70DFC188} - C:\Windows\system32\sstsp.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8A61098D-612B-4EF2-943D-64E920684061} - C:\Windows\system32\vtuvvtu.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfmpgzwd.exe] C:\ProgramData\cfmpgzwd.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cmds] rundll32.exe C:\Windows\system32\sstsp.dll,CreateProtectProc O13 - Gopher Prefix: O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstsp - C:\Windows\system32\sstsp.dll O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtuvvtu - C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\vtuvvtu.dll O20 - Winlogon Notify: windii32 - C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\windii32.dll Then delete this file: C:\ProgramData\cfmpgzwd.exe Please check this file's properties: C:\windows\SMINST\launcher.exe - is it an HP pgm? Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt plus a new HijackThis log run last. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Hello, I've already download the VundoFix I've been told, and I scanned it using VundoFix, I found the four files that I have shown you and I did the "remove vundo", it went blank( when I meant blank, I meant as it goes completely black and stays like that) as you said but the waiting was way to long, I was waiting for 25 minutes and nothing was happening, is this normal? (It also didn't give me any file or any pop up to restart the computer) I have firewall turned on, does this in anyway conflict with this problem? I decided not to do the second part if this was a problem. Please reply as soon as you can. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Restart your sys. Part of wanting to see complete logs is to learn the order in which things were done, and whether Vundofix completed. Run Vundofix again, then do the second part, restarting manually if needs be. It is possible for some infections to break cleaning tools, but Vundofix is one that you run repeatedly until it has done its job. The whole point is, it should delete all the files it finds, and not you, otherwise its cleaning may not be complete. As for the blank time, a couple of minutes would be very long.... meaning it has stalled. The firewall and AV do not interfere with what we are doing. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Well, I've tried to do the VundoFix again, and as usual, it has shown me the four files, but I cannot do the Remove Vundo button as it will turn into the black screen and not let me do anything. When you say manual restarting, you mean just holding the "power" button until it's off? Because I've been doing that to restart it. As I've been told, I did the second part,and removed the files you wanted deleted, here is the logfile: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 10:25:24 AM, on 27/07/2007 Platform: Windows Vista (WinNT 6.00.1904) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16473) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exe C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\hp\support\hpsysdrv.exe C:\hp\KBD\kbd.exe C:\Windows\RtHDVCpl.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehtray.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehmsas.exe C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools\daemon.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnscfg.exe C:\Windows\system32\wbem\unsecapp.exe C:\Windows\System32\mobsync.exe C:\Users\ADVINC~1\AppData\Local\Temp\ktfqooca.exe C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Users\ADVINC~1\AppData\Local\Temp\wuwudvxq.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Users\Advincula\Desktop\VundoFix.exe C:\Users\Advincula\Desktop\Virus protection help files\HiJackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost O2 - BHO: Yahoo! | Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? If you do not use the remove vundo function the tool is not going to do much, is it? If it stalls just restart by holding in the power button. Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt. And you did not change the name of hijackthis.exe as I requested. I'm not particular what you call it, just change it. Please. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Ok, thank you [the vundofix log is cumulative... it adds each run's result]; this last tool should remove one more problem.. ==Download this file to your desktop: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe - to run it dclick combofix.exe and follow the prompts to start it. When finished, it will produce a log, C:\Combofix.txt - post that log in your next reply. A word of caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? I'm sorry, but when I downloaded the file it said, it's only compatible with 2000 and XP, I have Vista, should I continue? Okay, I've tried doing it, but it just exits on me, which means I cannot use it. |

| Re: Trojan:Win32/Virtumonde.O, I think? Or maybe more? Ah, sorry, best not...my error. I am totally unfamiliar with Vista... just a mo - I see that Vundofix could not delete those files, but detected them repeatedly... I'll give you another tool.. |
