| Windows explorer not showing EXE files Hi Basically my friend's computer seems to be not showing EXE files. I sent her a zip file that contains a pile of files. 2 of the files were EXEs. All of them show up on her hard drive except those 2 exe files! Changing the folder settings to 'show hidden files' doesn't help. Anyone know why this is happening? I've tried sending the zip file to another computer I own and it works find for me so I am assuming it is a fault at her end. It's Windows XP. Thanks for any help offered! |

| Re: Windows explorer not showing EXE files Here are the steps that may be helpful. Click Start > Run > Regedit Registry Windows will open. Navigate to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL You will find a key called CheckedValue. Double Click CheckedValue key and modify it to 1. This is to show all the hidden files. Now you should be able to view all the hidden files, and also to alter its status from folder options. NOTE: Always back up your registry before editing anything in it. |
