| Re: Vynotl.exe Using House Call virus checker I found I had a non removeable infected file named dpjumv.exe. Mcafee did not pick it up. I followed the advice given here and the file is gone. I am very grateful for your help. I was getting a lot of pop-ups even though I am using a pop-up stopper. Here is my text file log from HiJackThis. Can you give me any advice as to how I can make any changes. Thank you. sailor22 :) My Norton Antivirus is not up to date. I am no longer using dial pad but I see it is still listed. Can I delete it and any of the items listed? :?: Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 8:44:47 PM, on 08/19/2004 Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KERNEL32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tsk C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTASK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\NORTON ANTIVIRUS\NAVAPW32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMON.EXE C:\WINDOWS\LOADQM.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\REAL\UPDATE_OB\REALSCHED.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\MSN MESSENGER\MSNMSGR.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\AT&T WORLDNET ACCELERATOR\PROPELAC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SPOOL32.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\PANICWARE\POP-UP STOPPER\DPPS2.EXE C:\HIJACKTHIS\HIJACKTHIS.EXE R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.nytimes.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=localhost:8080 O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADOBE\ACROBAT 6.0\READER\ACTIVEX\ACROIEHELPER.DLL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHELPER.DLL O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSDXM.OCX O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Norton Auto-Protect] C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\NAVAPW32.EXE /LOADQUIET O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [StillImageMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMON.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] c:\windows\scanregw.exe /autorun O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Tapicfg.exe] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\tapicfg.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Propel Accelerator] "C:\Program Files\AT&T Worldnet Accelerator\trayctl.exe" /STARTUPLAUNCH O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SchedulingAgent] mstask.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [RegisterDropHandler] C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTBR~1.0\BIN\REGIST~1.EXE O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "c:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [jopa] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSSTARTUP.EXE O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present O8 - Extra context menu item: Refresh Pa&ge with Full Quality - C:\Program Files\AT&T Worldnet Accelerator\pac-page.html O8 - Extra context menu item: Refresh Pi&cture with Full Quality - C:\Program Files\AT&T Worldnet Accelerator\pac-image.html O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\YAHOO!\MESSENGER\YHEXBMES0819.DLL O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Yahoo! | Re: Vynotl.exe We have arrived at the desired destination :). You may now do the following: Download CWShredder from here & run it. Select the fix button & it will fix everything related to CoolWebSearch that is stored in it's database. Close ALL windows, including Iinternet Explorer, before running CWShredder. Reboot. To help prevent this from happening again, install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits by going here for your critical updates. Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked': O16 - DPF: Dialpad US Java Applet - http://www.dialpad.com/applet/src/vscp.cab Reboot after doing this & post another log please. |
