It may run smoothly for more than 1 hour but I never checked it. (I can play songs, movie, browse internet simultaneously).If I restart the PC, it freezes. I keep it OFF for 1 hour. After 1 hour it runs for sometime and freezes again. Mouse and keyboard also stop working. The only way to restart it to press cabinet button for 5 sec so supply to motherboard get cut off.
So if I want to run it for long time, I need to keep it OFF at least 1 day and I can’t restart it.

I checked RAM. IT is working fine.

My configuration is
AMD phenom x2 550 black edition.
ASUS M2N68-AM Plus motherboard
PSU: Xtech 450-24,Max 450w
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7025/nforce 630a

Initial processor temperature is 36C which increases to 48C in 5 mins under zero load.

I have updated my BIOS version from 0701 to 0804.

However if I put the battery back in and it begins to charge after about 15 or 20% of charging the end gets hot and after about 40 or 50% the end is extremely hot. I know that when the PC is in use and if the battery is charging and the PC is being used the AC adapter will heat up but to have the connector end to melt the yellow insert appears to be way too hot. When the battery reached full charge the connector cooled off but when I pulled the connector end out of the PC it was stuck, hence the melted insert. The battery ran the PC OK and the charge dissipated about 15% in about 20 to 25 minutes. Could my battery be bad or is it the motherboard?

Building a new computer, got everything working but the power supply isn't powerful enough and when anything CPU or video intensive runs the computer will shut off. I have a 500W PSU now but I was wondering how much larger to get without frying the system (if that's possible).

Here's what I've got:

ASUS Rampage Formula MOBO
Inter Core 2 Quad Q9550 ~2.8GHz
2 x 2 gig DDR2 (1066 MHz)
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT (not SLI but displaying on 2 monitors)
2 HDD (1 sata 1 IDE)
2 DVD R/W (both sata)

Like I said, I've got a 500W PSU now, just looking for how much bigger to get.

I am using Real temp 3.0 to display my temperature readings, and at idle (with only Firefox open) I am getting readings of 65 C, but if I play F.E.A.R. , which is quite a graphically intensive game, I get readings around 90C, at which point I have to stop playing as the notebook will shut itself down once it reaches 100 C (it has shut itself down abruptly a few times), which I believe is the TJunction for this type of processor? The fans do make some noise, but I do not feel much air being pumped out of the vents. I have had this notebook for 2 years now, and only recently run into this problem. I believe it might have something to do with a new BIOS update I got from Toshiba's website, as, since then, the fans have been quieter. What would your advice be ? Would a laptop cooling pad be a good idea ? Or is this going to require something more extreme ? P.S. I have not overclocked this machine and am using XP. My IBM Think Pad has been great - solid used machine. It started having trouble staying powered on. It was ultra sensitive to any slight movement. Also, stopped holding charge. Then, one day, just wouldn't boot up. Locals wanted to charge $ 200 to open it up and fix it but weren't sure what the problem was (I only paid $ 150). Can i just open it up myself and replace something like the connection unit?

However, I read a review that suggested the power supply provided (250w) was quite low. I was under the assumption that small form factor PCs can run with less power consumption than a standard ATX system but after reading that a typical ATX system power supply is about 400w I'm a little worried that my psu won't be capable enough.

I won't be running anything particularly extreme on the Shuttle but I often use quite cpu-intensive programs like Cubase and Max/MSP. Can anyone tell me whether this (250w) is a typical psu for a small form factor? And, if not, what kind of wattage should I be aiming for instead?

Furthermore, after I backed up my files, I could not retrieve them using another computer. It kept telling me that I had to register and install MOZY Backup, it just would not retrieve my previous registration.
I am still not able to retrieve my files. Luckily, I kept local backups on some DVD's. MOZY may be free, but there is always a catch. Please be aware Mozy free backup could crash your computer?
Maybe that's how they get you; then they tell you have to purchase one of their plans???

The system starts up nicely (OS starts up) it just doesn't have a fan anymore which basically renders the laptop useless.

.. its an Hp a1640n Core 2 Duo , 2 Gb ram, Integrated graph card
The problem is that i turn on the pc, the keyboard/screen lights on for like 1/2 a second then it lights off
I cannot hear any Beeps ( so no BIOS access or anything on the screen )
The fan works properly ( i can hear both of them and i can see them working ) and theres power runing the tower

I tried to remove the RAM, the Hard disk, Reset the BIOS, change RAMS ... no change at all

IMPORTANT NOTE: After 1 month of inactivity, my friend and i tried to turn it on and it worked ( perfectly but was stuck on the anti-virus so we restarted it
and the same problem occured after ) --->>> so i doubt its the Mobo cuz theres no way it would work once if it was fried



sooo.. is this a Mobo problem, or a power supply??
or could it be the power supply isnt well connected ( it worked once! so its not "broken" )

I eventually got it to turn on a boot up and everything worked fine. Well I just moved and had the computer disconnected for about a week. Now I'm trying it again and it is giving me these problems. Does anyone know what the problem is?

On the motherboar it has a LED indicator and when the computer is plugged in, but off it reads 2.0. When I first hit the power button it goes it 8.c. then right before it shuts off it goes to 9.d. I noticed when I hit the power button there is about 1 second delay before I hear the computer start and the fans run.

Any help you could offer would be great!

I paid $40 for a 475 watt and I just got my computer put together and was playing Crysis when the power supply just gave up the ghost. I'm planning to order a 700 or 800 watt PSU; just want to get some feedback on it.

the problem started a few days ago. at first, i could hit reset a few times and get it to boot. i knew it was about to boot when my keyboard lights flashed, and the power light on my monitor changed from orange to blue. but now, that doesn't work anymore.

removing ram gives me a continuous beep. i tried both dimms in different combos. i tried removing everything but 1 dimm - took out video card, extra ram, hard drive, and optical drive - still no post.

reset bios, checked every cable and card connection, dusted and blew and everything else.

yesterday i even replaced the psu with a brand new one. the problem persists.

I decided that the best course of action would be to get a new power supply, so I went out and replaced the old 600 watt power supply with a 550 Thremaltake gaming power supply. I installed the psu with no problems and when i turned on the computer everything seemed to run ok, but there is no signal on the monitor. The monitor power supply is ok, i checked it and there is a yellow light and it says there is no signal. I made sure to plug in the special pci exspress connector to the video card and so I am very sure that everything has power, so I dont know what the problem could be, but heres what I was thinking.

1. Because I got a 550 psu insted of 600, there is not enough power BUT the computer is atleast 3 years old and the video card is not brand new, so I was thinking that would be ok.

2. Something happened to the monitor when the computer died as well and I should just get a new monitor.

3. Something happened to the video card when the psu died and so now I need to replace that.
