Over the years I have done programming in a number of different languages, but my strength is probably more in financial application design. Currently I am trying to learn more about Access and Visual Basic.

I discovered DaniWeb while looking for a solution to a Window XP problem (which has not yet been solved), but I found DaniWeb to be an interesting place and I am looking forward to exploring it.

Hii all,

This is Abdullah from Turkey. I study electrical and electronics engineering. I can use C,C++,and C#, my favorite is C#. And I know a bit ASP.NET. Besides, I am interested in robotics, pic programming. I know Pic Basic and Pic Assembly, I love to use Pic Assembly more. I want to learn developing digital image processing projects, unfortunately do not know nearly anything about it :):(:'( want to learn developing simulation projects, actually I do not know much about simulation too, unfortunately.
But If you are interested in simulation , you can use XNA's libraries, or DirectX.

In digital image processing, as far as I saw, generally , MATLAB is used, but I guess we cannot create executable files with MATLAB, so , and since I want to use image processing in ,maybe, robotics and differrent branches, I would rather use C#, at least I love C# more. By the way, I do not know if we can create projects with MATLAB for robotics or similar things.

I really, really enjoy the art of writing code and programming. My father was an old school main frame programmer and here I am at 28 years old, finally following in his footsteps..well kinda...

Hi All,

I guess, at least according to my welcoming pm, I should introduce myself.

I am very new to web development, I have used access and have been very active on an access forum since June.

I am now trying to branch out from Access into other things, and have just started to learn PHP, HTML, Javascript, and SQL. My hope in learning this is to benefit the company I work for in redesigning a database we currently have in Access to SQl server, as it is more flexible.

It is a lot to take in, so joining a forum is one of the best tools I've found in learning, even if all you do is read other peoples questions and answers.

Anyway some things about me:

I am not yet 30 (If any of you have ever seen the A&E version of Pride and Prjudice then you get the meaning of my phrasing :) )

I live in Texas

I enjoy guitars, music, movies and am hopelessly addicted to facebook.

I generally do not participate in discussion groups, my life is just too busy but I noticed a post that I thought I could help with so as a teacher I could not resist.

I have been active in content managment since 1997 and in site creation since 2001. I am an instructor at Western Technical College in La Crosse, WI where I teach Microsoft Office classes and a class in web site creation and Expression Web. I have 3 small businesses that keep me busy days.

Unlike many of you, I am a believer in web software. And curse of all curses, am comfortable with Microsoft products. I create at least a dozen new sites a year for small businesses and with all of my other acitiviities do not have either the time or the desire to write all of the code anymore.

I write HTML and XHTML, which is admittedly not much of an accomplishment in todays web world. Today I use the ability to define where I want to insert code created by script editiors rather than as a production tool. I have dabbled in Javascript and ASP but would rather let software take care of it for me.

I am not sure I fit with a tech forum. I thiink my contribution might be to be supportive of those trying to learn or seeking an approach that does not require them to be coding experts. I am offended by some of the responses I have seen in other forums. When someone seeks help on an issue it should not be an invitation to rip on them for using a feature that is unpopular or anitiquated. Hopefully those that participate in this forum will be above such abuses.

Hello I am new here so I just wanted to present myself!
My name is Kim, I am 25 (in 1 day) years old and I live in Sweden (no we do not have polar bears on the streets CNN is misinformed!) in a town called Gävle. We have/had a coffee producer that sells coffee to the US of A called Gevalia. I have been developing for about 7-9 years (mainly PHP :(). For the past two years I have tried to go to C++ still working on learning new stuff.

I go to school in a form called municipal adult education to get better grades and later on go a course to become a game-developer(!).

I don't mind learning new stuff and figure them out for myself so if I ask I have really tried without any real success so do no bite ;) AND I know how to use the search function (woho!).

Hope I will find this community a nice one and will stay here :D Otherwise my visit will be short :) so I hope for the best.

I recently left the world of a large US Film Manufacturer as their Technical Manager and now want to spend time learning more about web design.

I have built a few websites for small businesses and artists (one being my wife).

I am married, with two sons. The oldest is an index options trader in Chicago and the other will be a Doctor in June 2010.

I am an avid tennis player. I enjoy golf but am having trouble improving. I love to read mystery, thriller and science fiction novels now that I have time.

I want to spend time learning PHP and other programming languages that will enhance my web design experience.

As this is supposed do be an introduction, I can say that I am introducing myself to VB 2008 at the time being, planning either a stipendiate on soil chemistry or a econometric book-keeping program for companies (not decided yet).

I started programming with the ZX81 home computer in the 1980´s, a nice little machine with a Z80 processor and 16K memory with one-key BASIC and the AZMIC assembler ROM.

Since then I have had many jobs, some of them computer related, such as programming the Nicolet FTIR system. In this work I got familiar with the narrow but high absorbance peak of CO2 that is of great discussion today, being the index of other and stronger greenhouse gasses.

Having spent ten intense years on soil chemistry, I finally realised that it is also important to keep fit so I go swimming on a daily basis. In the summer I go sailing in the beautiful arcipelago.

I look forward to jump into VB enhancements this winter, to get ready for all good deed.

Hi im Perun.
I started to like games and games development stuff before 1 year.
Thx to my gaming love in have learned how to make maps for Quake
and Star trek Elite force 2 (i could probalby do and for rest .bsp based game) i learned things how to make textures and shaders,but i had always one thing missing and that is coding which i find really difficult cuz i was alwys bad in mathematics.
The coolest things in gaming you do with shaders and scripts and both need that you know at least something in coding so i tryed C++ but i found it really hard and books and tutorials rather "dry" cuz the best way of learning is via using examples and tasks.
So i looked for next best thing and found Python and i love it even doe people do tell me that its better to leave it and concentrate on C++,but my opinion is that better stick to the Python.
Python as i see haves really the best community ouround and i found some really nice tutorials that make my learning easy.
Im now learn Python overall 1 1/2 week i hope ill learn it some day to be decent Python programer :)

my name is Marcel. I've been into computers for about 25 years and started programming around that time, too (on a ZX-81 initially, but quickly moving on to a C-64). I studied Maths with Computer Science, wrote a couple of games with a friend while at University, one of which was actually published on a couple of shareware CDs (Hover Cars).

I went into games programming in 2001 and stayed there for nearly 8 years but have now started a new job which is partly programming, partly a bit of BI and OR, but all quite interesting.

Languages I have used include Assembler (C-64 (6502), x86), Pascal, C, C++, Python and Java (which I am still fairly new at).

When not working, I like reading books, creative writing, playing video games and board games, listening to music, watching anime and cooking. Oh, and some programming, too.

As far as human languages go I do German and English. :)

I am somone who has just spent the last 275 years trying to get a
combo box to advance to a text box based on what is selected via HTML and javascript. After 24,000,000,012 google searches, I have got 24,000,000,012 ways to do it and none work.

I spent the last millenium trying to find an interface to create my html interfaces without having to code everything.

I am so productive, I cannot stand myself.

At this point, I am sure everyone reading this concurs.

Welcome the programmer who had crawled out from his comfortable IBM midrange cacoon to discover a new world of georgeous interfaces that take forever to develop. And Mr Google can be so cruel. As you turn over every grain of sand to find out that you were looking on the wrong beach.

Hi everyone. I'm Joe Hayes a retired attorney who, in the last two years, has moved to Mexico from Del Mar, California. I live with my adult son who's not only my only son but is also my best friend. We're in Playas de Tijuana about a half hour South of Tijuana. It's beautiful and very inexpensive compared to San Diego County to the North.

My main interest is music with emphasis on classic jazz and American Pop from the twenties through the seventies unless you count Dylan and the STones who're still rockin'. In jazz I spend a lot of time writing and reviewing the giant jazzmen of the past and have articles and essays posted all over the internet. Stan Kenton, Art Pepper, Clifford Brown, Chet Baker, Charles Mingus and all that good stuff in jazz and Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Mathis, Eydie Gorme, Doris Day, etc. I also love reading, with the surf as a background, with favorites and many rereads of William Faulkner, Ernie Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Erica Jong, and on and on.

I grew up in Orange County, California (The O.C., gulp) and then attended Westlake College of Modern American Music (jazz) in Hollywood for a year, then on to The University of Tennessee at Knoxville where I was born. I was in the private sector until about twenty years ago when after being laid off from The Chrysler Motors Corp., North American Operations, Dodge Division (big name still went BK) I started law school at Western States University School of Law., now known as Thomas Jefferson School of Law. I was fortunate to weasel my way into a good partnership and took part in some really high profile cases.

I've also been fortunate enough to be a professional drag racer and drove the factory experimental funny car, The Harbor Hemi back in the mid-sixties; had four or five commercial radio programs over the years working on the number one station in San Diego for two years.

To paraphrase the Grateful Dead, "What a long strange trip it's been," but I'm not ready to quit yet friends. My grandfather made it to 86 and I hope to break his record. And, oh...I got online about ten to twelve years ago with that old joke Web TV...funny, what goes around comes around. Now everybody wants their PCs or Macs to be on their TV screens.

Hi there all you computer literate peeps, joined mainly to learn and if I ever have a solved thread to my name I will be highly suprised.
I get a little teed of running to my IT guy everytime I have a problem so have decided to spend a little time and effort trying to sort out my own problems without screwing the whole thing up!
Hopefully in time I will get alittle wisdom meanwhile if anyone has an electrical problem I am your man, that is logical science not the computer world which seems to make up its own rules as it goes along.

Hi I have been programming on mid-range systems since 1970. I have used RPG, COBOL, Visual Basic, and Basic. I am currently working with PHP to be used on PC Severs and the IBM I-Series computers. I am also integrating this with Java scripts to be used to develop Web pages. I have run into a problem with PHP in that I am getting an err that reads as follows "mysql_fetch_row() expects parameter 1 to be resource". Any idea as to what this means?

My name is Adam, I stumbled upon this site when struggling in my current programming class. I am reading all the required textbooks and purchased a few to help me out.

I decided to finally continue a IT degree I started in 89, needless to say everything is different now.

I am into older punk/hardcore music, tattooing, gaming (XBOX360) and IT.

I am so glad of having joined this community: I've been using suggestions since several days, and at the end, I decided to be part of it, to see if I can make my little contribution.

I am a PhD student in Italy. In particular I am studying computational biology, and my interests are in programming different languages for different biological issues, hopefully in the attempt of getting the best from any one of them.

I am also interest in informatics in general, I love my mac, I play the electric guitar (or rather I was playing it, now I don't have enough time :D) and I think that's end the story.

I want to tell you a little secret: few hours ago I got a problem with my c++ ODE solver program, with istringstream and str(): I was posting the question and, when I was cleaning the code to paste a lighter version, I just found the error and solve it "alone" : shouldn't I get a prize to be the first one to solve his problem on danyweb bothering noone :D

Hi All

In 1980 when Clive Sinclair launched his Z80 (or was it the ZX81), I worked with a programmer who worked in a low level programming language developing the first intruder alarm control panel. Hence, for me, the hook of the computing world caught me. Before that , in the late sixties, I read with interest the text book called, "The Mighty Micro", by Jones. He predicted many of the facilities that are now all taken by granted, like word processing. In 1985 the Apple Mac Classic took my interest in the college of further education where all staff were trained in basic word processing and desktop publishing using Pagemaker. Being an electronics enthusiast, I then ventured into software control of hardware. From there, I ventured into communications in the form of ICQ and file transfer. I then began repairing corrupt Windows systems in home computers starting with Windows 3.1v up to the present where I now enjoy using and puting to the test Windows 7. It's the best operating system yet. Linux is my next venture. My biggest complaint is TIME who left us all a huge legacy of elusive drivers for their systems.
