Hey, i uninstalled the new hard drive and restarted, when it came back on and re-installed both hard drives seem to be working. So problem solved, thanks for all your help.

'Device Manager' claims that both HDs are working properly.

I do not think that the problem is with the actual hard drive itself, as when i turn it on when it is not connected to my laptop it...

How would i go about removing the device to let windows re-install it?

Also tried the Windows file protection but everything seems to be in order there.

I have recntly been having problems with my laptop recognizing my external hard drive, When the hard drive is switched on, the usb input sound happens but the device displays the 'busy' light...

Please?

I've run about a dozen different scanners all with results but there still seems to be no change!

Pop ups for: Jamster Ringtones, Cassava 888.com Online Casino, Beech Finance and Freedom Finance and other loan companies. These seem to be the main offenders.

After reboot i am still experiencing occasional pop ups but not as many as before.

They are regular pop ups for things like online casinos and finance companys and they tend to appear on most sites that i visit.

I currently have 512MB of RAM, 128MB of which is "Shared Memory" (whats is shared memory?). So it seems i have 384MB of RAM which seems enough to me, but the games I play are jumpy and slow...

Both machines have Windows XP home edition. The PC does have a cd burner but i want to transfer pretty much everything over to the laptop which is about 40GB worth of stuff so it would take years....
