Thanks for your advice. Would DDR400 memory with 2.0 latency be sufficient for a 3800+? Or should I be looking for something slightly faster.

Hey all, I'm in the process of choosing parts for a new system I plan to build, but I always get horribly confused when it comes to choosing RAM. I'm planning on getting an AMD 64 3800+ processor. My...

I recently finished putting together a new computer. When it's working, it runs fine. However, at completely random times, it will power off and power back on very quickly, with no error message or...

Those temps are good. As long as your not going over 50 a lot you should be fine. If you see 50+ a lot you might want to consider a new case fan, or a new CPU fan or heatsink.

Overclocking can yield some nice performance increases, but only do it if you:
1) Need the extra speed badly.
2) Have a cpu/motherboard that overclock nicely, and if it's a dell I can assure you...

A 6800GT, 2 gigs of DDR400 ram, 16x dvd burner, 520w PSU, and a SATA HD for under $600? Where did you do your shopping?

Your computer looks fine. If you do a lot of intensive gaming, a newer video card might be a good idea, but otherwise your system is good.

Where did you do your shopping? No way you can get that from newegg at less than $900. Did you go ebay?

Nope, gigabyte is a very respectable company. Most manufacturers just stick to the reference for the chip, and there isn't much of a change from one to the other, unless they pre-overclock their...

Let's just agree on this. There is so much fluctuation in the benchmarks, from reviewer to reviewer, and from game to game, that it is impossible to call a clear cut winner and it really comes down...

The X800 pro is outperformed by the 6600GT in lower resolutions with AA/AF off, for the most part. As the settings are ramped up, however, the X800 pro clearly begins to gain some ground. However,...

Nice, helpful post Rogue. Rcrevolution, as Rueful Rogue pointed out, PCI-E is much faster than AGP. PCI-E 16X offers 4 times as much bandwidth as AGP. However, as I have said earlier, a graphics...

Erk, sorry about saying the 6600GT had 16 pipelines, my mistake there.

I suppose I wasn't very clear when I said that the 6600GT "beats of the pants off of an X800pro" Performance wise, the...

For around $30-$80 you can get new a fully featured AGP 8X motherboard. I think you would get more "bang for your buck" from a relatively inexpensive, new motherboard and a video card that takes...

The Soltek K8T Pro is an excellent choice for a socket 939 mobo. A very fast, fully featured mobo for around 100-120. Best bang for your buck 939 mobo in my opinion. The Asus A8V or the Abit AV8 are...

The problem is probably with the power supply. If you have a friend with a power supply rated at 300W or above try his in your system. Personally, I would recommend you return your PCI card and get...

I would either get a 6800GT or a 6600GT. Make sure you find the AGP model! 6600GT is an excellent deal. 200 for a 16 pipeline card with an excellent clock speed. It beats the pants off of a X800 pro....

I HIGHLY recommend spending around $50 USD on your power supply. The video card NEEDS a 480 watt PSU for stable performance. The cheaper models will probably be less stable, louder, and will also...

I'm assuming you have a regular PCI slot then (not PCI-express). There are some graphics cards that use a PCI slot, but you can expect fairly old cards with pretty low bandwidth! Just do a search on...
