Aside from restoring the factory settings in the BIOS make sure to delete the event logs too. Take out the battery and unplugging the ac adapter and hold the power button for about 10 secs to drain...

Easier way to do it is install another windows in that same hard drive. Parallel install. But do NOT format the drive. After you have salvaged your files reinstall the whole thing clean

Have you tried checking the bios if your hard drive and cdrom drive are detected? Try loading the default settings as well see if that helps? Let me know what happens

Once you hook up your external monitor it should show something already while you are loading your machine. Perhaps the lights that you are seeing from the cracked screen is coming from the back...

You can also try reinstalling the whole thing with the operating system cd, I am assuming you have another pc that has access to the internet in case you don't have your drivers cd with you.

yes in deed depending on what price you can have it and what you will be using it for. i think if you can get 2500+ bartons cpres they are still a good bang for the buck
