At what stage in the boot process does it halt, ie memory check,,

sorry I just read the previous posts more carefully and see you have tried this.

Go to control panel setting sounds and audio settings select the voice tab.

Make sure a audio device is listed there. then click the volume button and make sure

line in volume is not to low...
