The short answer is "yes", but there are many ways to do this. First of all, do you have a CD burner in your old laptop?

Nothing's free. You have to pay for the bandwidth at some point. First of all, Windows 2003 Server is not free. Web server edition is a bit over $400 and full version is around $700.

I certainly don't want to argue with your methods. Any way which helps the user remove spyware is the best way :)

Instead of safe mode, try selecting "Enable VGA mode" at the boot menu.

If that doesn't help, then you should probably do a repair install of Windows XP.
