A mic is a mic in basic terms. The only basic variables are whether its phantom power or not.

Regarding amplifier-- the amplification comes from the sound system or sound card, not the mic.

Any consumer grade mic should do-- what matters is the plug size... Most soundcards have small headphone jack size inputs...

Yeah-- sounds you have it figured out in your post below... but as long as the harddrive is still working you can recover the files if you make it an external or secondary drive on another computer....

I dont have LED blink issue but HP media center and similiar symptoms.

hmmm.

perhaps consider the graphics card variable-- if its vga/onboard or a PCI etc. Not sure if this is of any relevance, but a variable to at least look into.

BIOS is detecting any attached HDD or DVD drives with no problem. What would the reason be for not being able to boot from a recovery disk using these devices if they are detected by...

Replaced CMOS battery-- no change other than I can now get to the HP login splash and hit F1 or ESC for boot and bios setup.

"Bad Master Boot Record - insert system disk and restart"...

I took out the CMOS battery to reset settings--it gave me, usually, 1...

can you clarify what reseating the processor is? (which is the processor)

I have same issue on an HP... removed RAM- beeped... reinstalled. Issue not resolved.

System stopped working ~4 monthes ago-- wouldnt boot, after power on it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left corner of the screen. Fan on/power on.
