if it is just 2 laptops being connected use a crossover ethernet cable, if it more than 2 use a switch.

of course you can just use a switch for 2 computers but its a bit of a waste of money....

it logs into AD, but after fiddling for a while, i rebooted and all was fine again, it seems to be a bit weird that even logging off and on didnt do it but restarting did? i think what was happening...
