...the main problem is, I tried to put index.html's in the other folders and the other folders were inaccessible as well, even with the index files.

so if I wanted both would it be:
DirectoryIndex index.html index.shtml ?

heh, the trickier part seems to be getting a domain parked, then forwarding the requests for that parked domain to your home computer server. =P
