That was my problem. I went into safe mode, uninstalled all of my extensions and themes, and the loaded firefox in its normal mode.

Love the program, but following an update a few weeks ago (I think) normal mode does not load properly, and crashes...

Seems like I can have it all my way tonight afterall.
Uninstalled and reinstalled avast, updated and all is fine, HJT log looks ok now.

And my email seems to be up and running again!

Everything seems to be working ok. No popups, no error messages, and no odd/unknown programs displayed in task manager.

I'll uninstal and the reinstall Avast, and see if everything is working ok!...

Somohow parents have managed to restore the computer back a couple of days and the start menu is now ok.
