Y wuld you install an alternate browser IE works fine but if you aren't wise and have a malware checker it can easily be crappy.

OK, this is pretty simple go into uninstall programs and i believe its WIndows Components. And no you can unistall on XP, i acidently did this once.

I had this isue with my friends computer we couldnt insatll because of win 95 running on it what win are you running

Oh duh forgot to tell you that the file with the isue was C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe.

you have the sasser worm it infects IE go to symantec and find the removal tool, but I strongly recommend Norton Antivirus to protect you from further issues.
