Is your original ram 667mhz? you could sell the one 2 gig stick and replace it with a 1 gig 800mhz that will solve your performance issue.

Actually the OS IS of importance. If you are running a 32bit OS you can't even use 4 Gigs. a 32bit OS will only recognize a little over 3 gigs. so using 4 would be completely pointless.

Make sure you don't get the thermal paste on the pins of the CPU or in the socket. most pastes have a metal compound in them and it could short out your CPU/mobo.

And remember a CPU is a ZIF...

A CPU can't make sounds. the Fan on the CPU can make some pretty annoying sounds. when you say Seagate do you mean your hard drive? to my knowledge Seagate doesn't make a CPU.

a 64bit CPU will run a 32bit OS but not the other way around. the biggest advantage of the 64bit is that you can run up to 16Gig of ram. it is mainly used in servers.
