No, you cannot use both DDR and DDr2 simultaneously on boards which have both the slots. You can use either DDR or DDR2 at one time. I guess this should answer your second question.

To answer your question, you can upgrade the REM only if theyre the same type. You cant use DDR RAM for DDR2 or SD for DDR. You can upgradr diff capacities and frequenxies of the same type of RAM

The only bottleneck I would say is if you have an IDE hard drive. If it's SATA, then no issues. However, what make are your RAM modules? What's their clock speed?

I still think this to be a heating issue. Spontaneous PC reboots signify:

1. Overheating
2. Faulty RAM
3. Faulty mobo

There is no such issue with the 754 Athlon64s not supporting SLI. All you need is a 754 board with two PCI-E slots and you're good to SLI. Ofcourse, you'll also need two identical graphics cards.
