sounds like you need to stay calm at your pc

okay im assuming you mean cpu as "the actual pc system" you may have tipped something while you were knocking it over

open the case and check there...

i left it out and powered it on externally

eliminate it too (take out all pci cards)
if this doesnt work try to try out another ram source

last time this happened to me i unscrewed the board and sat ti there (put it horizontally if its a vertical pc)

there could be a chance that the board cannot transfer info and a small power on...

1----its maybe best to format the hdd,backup and format as the computer the hdd was in before may have errors with recognising your new specs

2----i seriously have no idea why...

oh sorry...i just realised you said that the toroidal inductor was noisy

try slightly pushing the toroidal inductor away from any close objects (eg-capacitors)

hmm...it could be the fan/ heatsink----try sticking your ear up to the fan and motherboard but be sure that you dont chop your ear off :)

it was from a brand new 370 upgrade and i have to use my old socket 370 heatsink cos this heatsink fits bu cant due to a capacitor in the way--the cpu works fine

i have a 203966-001 board and got the bios from hp as my new cpu had a microcode error
i put the bios onto a cd and placed the file onto my desktop
it started to install and then it will...

there is a brand called "ECS" look for a board from probably ebay and you can get them to accept 2 slots for ddr ram and there are 2 slots for sdram

these boards rock!

i took it to a repair shop and he said that since its a celron that the amount was fine as it has a silver protection base and it was not on the cpu
