I think when one of the things Ive been using during this to fix the virus it must have deleted a file thats needed for add/remove programs or something. Any idea what file it could be?

I did that but it keeps saying "if you change a file name extension, the file may become unstable" even though im doing what you said and not trying to change the extension.

just right click hijackthis and click rename and put analysethis? not sure if thats what you meant but I tried that and now it wont open because it says changing the file name made it unstable.
