Can you tell us about the application. Probably there's some compatibility issue of the application with windows xp.

You're not booting from CD ROM. Boot from the cd rom... n try installing again.

You can have your desktop again by clicking new task in task manager and typing explorer in it and then clicking ok. Then you can backup your system and reinstall XP. Tell us if this doesn't work.

ntldr is the file that triggers the start of windows ... so its always needed to start windows .. you can just insert your windows xp cd in your cd rom and repair windows.
