I've had that problem occur on my dad's vista laptop...it was so horrible that the only solution I came up with was to reinstall the computer because the update destroyed the computer...

When you do an upgrade, you overwrite windows with a newer version, but you get to keep your old files...BUT...for safety purposes, you should back up your important files to an external just in case...

that is a symptom of CPU Over Heating...get a free program or something to monitor your CPU Temperature...if it's over 50/60-80C+, than it's CPU over heating...but it would be odd since it's a new...

it's not F11 for all computers or brands...try F12, F10, F9, those keys, or try all of them...F8 is general the boot menu...

nope, just checked...just like the XP Home editions of xp didn't have the GPE, neither does the vista home editions have the GPE...so that option is out...
