no. the answer is no no no. You need at least a 17" lcd if you want 1280x1024. chris5126, your graphics card can not force your lcd to have more pixles than are physically there, it is impossible.

If you have a video cardl, try testing it in another machine. Your processor may also be tosted, or your motherbaord too. Try other parts in your machine to start figuring out where the problem lies....
