for mice, i would say the logitech marble mouse trackball is the best i've used. once you get used to a trackball, you can never go back to a regular mouse.

mine is an old hp (that is dark blue and beige) and has wrist support and some other buttons, as well as 2 usb ports. Looks really nice, 8 years old!! But still works great!!

are u using vga, dvi, composite, component, hdmi, or svideo? if vga, run in safemode with video, or something like that and see if it works

run msconfig, and disable all programs except video cards, anti virus, and CRITICAL system files under the start up tab. Also, disable unnecessary services, and and eye candy that you could care less...

for bios, do what kamika0007z said, for system recovery, try ctrl+f11, or alt+f11. If none helps, google it, and/or go to dell.com and click on support.
