My colleagues laptop had a problem where it kept rebooting unexpectedly and required fixing, I reset the BIOS and I could not boot into windows and the windows setup saying there was no hard drive...

Its a long shot but what is your power suply e.g 450w you can find this out if you open your pc up and look at the side of the power supply and let us know, and let us know what you have got running...

I dont think that will be the problem because if he baught the external hard drive it should be configured correctly and it has worked in the past

You can find out what driver you need on the internet some providers scan your computer and let you download drivers

Well its a long shot but open up your external hard drive and have a look see if any cables are loose that are connecting to the hard drive or if they are faulty

Secondly, if that doesnt work try...

opened it up it isnt the lens i cleaned it the cd spins and then stops and sometimes doesnt spin

my cd burner doesnt work with any sort of burning i.e mp 10,power iso,nero

i have got vmware but i want a permenent solution i.e fresh install no windows

the cd rewriter can read but cannot burn also i have a spare cd drive if that helps but it doesnt burn cd's

i have only 1 machine

i try to burn a cd and it converts and inspects it can read cd's but whe it gets to the burning bit and it waits for a min then it say's burning failed i use windows media player 10

cd rewirter recgnizes cds but does not burn cd's please help i need to burn cd's if it means opening up the cd rewriter i will:(

Im putting my hard drive in an enclosure so it will be ide but the interface to the computer will be usb 2.0 so what will the situation be?

if i was to put a hard drive in a enclosure and set it up on my computer in my bedroom
1. format it
2. allocate drive letter
would i be able to write files to it and take it to my other computer...

i have a acer travel mate a really old one i don't know what make it is though. it can read data Cd's and music Cd's but it cant read windows xp windows 2000 or anything it says the disk is corrupted...

This is a long shot but try flashing your bios this should help go to your manufacturers website and check it out
as i said its a long shot but give it a go

you can get a sata card from microdirect or somewhere for really cheap it a plug and play product

This happened to me every time i put a floppy in the drive new or used the computer freezes and wont let me write to the floppy i tried moving the little tag at the bottom of the floppy it doest work...
