Its 500MB, just leave it there. Most likely (as said about) the 64 bit version needs the 32 bit folder to fully function.

You will have to install your driver for your sound.

I got win 7 the same way.

Probably because the computer is so old, you will need at least windows vista drivers. I found that out.

Probably a lot of programs on starting up when you first login. When you go into safe mode it doesn't start everything up.

It's possibly a hardware problem, or you have A LOT of programs running upon start up....

Go Start > Run > Type 'msconfig' and hit enter > then disable programs that are not needed under the start...

A repair possibly would work, but otherwise it would require a reinstall, i would do a reinstall just so nothing gets confused and crashes.

Vista is a slow system hog. XP is fast and doesn't use up resources like Vista does.
