i heard alot of good things about mambo. Features rich and SE friendly.

phpbb will be my ideal free board. vbulletin will be my first choice if you look for paid script.

INvision 1.3 is still free, i guess. It was still in fantastico package.

Look like we had to upgrade phpbb again. :)

It will be faster if you have shell access. It will take around 10 min to shift a board from one server to another server.

you may want to try out virtualnews script. It's a paid script though.
