Update on First Computer. I used the windows recovery...no files/programs were deleted.However, when i try to use any of the icons....it says: "C:\Program Files\name of program\name of program.exe"....

With regards to pop-ups, have you tried simply using a pop-up blocker? About the the malwares, you can use the following programs to scan for and clean the malwares as a precaution if the computer...

Have you tried any other removal programs other than norton?

since it's only IE that doesn't work, how about uninstalling it and then re-installing it...does your computer slow down at times?
