hit f8 on startup and go to safe mode to try system restore

that will work if the extra one you have has windows 98 installed or you will have to install windows on it ,then copy file from buggered one to the extra one for safe keeping ,the knoppix way works...

Hi ,I use Norton and not Trend micro ,but im sure there must be something in it settings /or options to set to auto protect or run at startup .

If you don't find any viruses ,I would try this ,go to control panel , add & remove programs /,add & remove windows components ,accessories and uncheck paint if it checked ,ok you way out then go...

The first computer I had 98se on was a p166 32 megs of ram use it for about 4 yrs.
I wouldn't put xp on it if i were you .
As for upgrading to 98SE all you need is a 98SE disk and from the boot...

How about with the windows cd in the cdrom ,go to start/run and type in, SFC

did you install video drivers when you install your card in her computer ,and did you check device manager to see if here video card drivers are installed correctly !

Its been 2 yrs or so since i used win98 full time ,i do remember not being able to install flash but sorry I don't remember how I fixed problem ,are you saying that it will not install if you click...

if you know dos commands you could rename it boot.old and if it doesent boot up you could use a win98 boot disk and rename it back to boot.ini.
