I am sorry, I can't help you, since I don't know the USB device very well, but you don't seem to be the only one experiencing this problem...

Well, you can do it with this tool : Talend Open Studio (http://www.talend.com/download.php).

It is capable of doing many more things than what you're trying to do since it is a comprehensive data...

Excel 2003 has various ways to export XML. For example : Save As -> XML Spreadsheet. But you obtain a ridiculous file with much more info that you might want (formatting info, etc.).

Your registery might have been modified so that the writing on the usb device is disabled.

Buddylee is right when he says that you shouldn't go for oracle if you intend to do a small project.

As a matter of fact there are benchmarks which shows that mysql offers almost the same...
