I Think you should know firstly about working of ram,it will speed up your working scenario of files and folder and as far as graphics card is concern
as by name it will boost up your visualisation...

First of all you should clean your pc i mean to clean up your hardwares it will boost up your pc 10 to 30%.
then after you should run clean up wizard for respective drives and later defragmantor....

I think you should post questions clearly (not explanation) ya your fear is right that it will kill the ram so the solution is that to update your virus and if ti fails format is the final solution!...
