Not really. What happens is that the Recovery CD just replaces the critical files that need replacing.

Here's a question for ya.

When you go to Add/Remove Programs, how many different Javas are found? Be sure to uninstall the older programs.

Also, be sure the latest Java is installed.

Let's try this.

Go to Run (start> run)

Type in 'Msconfig'. (without '')

Go to Boot.ini.

There should be 2 OSs listed. See if it will let you delete 1 entry.

Spyware is a very valid possiblity, although I wouldn't reccomend Adaware.

Rather, use Ewido--it has a better detection rate.

The best way I can see doing this is to burn them all on a CD(s). If this isn't an option, a flash drive is also a possiblity.
