This thread is over a year old. OptOnline does now indeed block port 25 and port 80. They do not block any other ports, as far as I'm aware.

3389 is not blocked, and I use it everyday.

What operating system is the Dell pc running? Is it Windows XP? Windows 9x/ME?

I don't know how Mac's talk to PC's, but I assume they use some variant of Samba in OSX.

Before any of that, try replacing the wires. Wires are usually the stubborn link in network connection problems.

Not true. OptOnline only blocks incoming TCP port 80.

What does that mean? You can not run a web server on the standard port.

Many protocols have default ports, HTTP is 80, FTP is 21,...

A mobile processor just means the processor adjusts its speed to save battery life.

Dani, I know. He isn't going to buy a server and host it on location. He's going to buy a server from a dedicated place. If he does, the dedicated place will have stuff that monitors it for you.
