Turn off your antivirus (temporarily while it installs, turn back on afterwards), that worked for me. Some of them block the registry from being edited.

I've heard of viruses that do this, a search of the foums might be able to help. Is that the newest version of hijakthis?

that's not proven. A site i was reading tested all browsers and IE7 came up better on security than Firefox. But opera won overall i believe.

i think if you run HJT and check the boxes next to the ones TT said, then click fix it should work. but make sure they're the only ones checked.

have you run a scan with Lavasofts Adaware? It looks for that kind of stuff.
