I made a stupid mistake. Silly me. I forgot to plug in the 12V thing from the power supply into that place next to the CPU. Thank you everyone

Okay. Thank you everyone. Because I took off the heat sink and powered on (dangerous I know!) to troubleshoot a machine that didn't post and whose fan didn't spin. The CPU didn't get hot at all, so...

I think spending a bit more now would be better, buying to P5B-E, instead of buying the cheaper one. From 1.8 to 2.3 is a lot of gain and would show when you're gaming or just using it at all. ...

A good motherboard for the core 2 extreme would be any motherboard thats fairly new and has the right type of chipset to work with it.... Most of the newer motherboards can work with it.

Maybe its not your motherboards problem, it could easily be a loose or broken cord, or a deffective hard drive. I doubt that the motherboard would malfunction. So many ram slots!!!!!!

If you cant fit the sink fan back on, you probably have to apply some more force to it. Or, make sure your inserting it in properly. Don't forget to add more cooling compound!
