Sounds like yet another sp2 problem. Check to see if the computer is running service pack 2 , which is basically a wonderful array of security settings for windows xp.the firewall could be stopping...

I would get rid of service pack 2 . which is easier said than done...Also,the netgear nics suck, that could be your problem as well :)

um just a stupid little suggestions ... have you tried *flush dns* from cmd prompt ??
