I ran a check on it and there are 10 bad LBAs in it (although I have not formatted it since long)

this is an update to the 1st post

The hard drive in question was again acting up, PC hanging , disk read problems, long boot times

So I had to again install winodws, I did a full format...

One of my Segate SATA HDD had developed bad sectors, windows was having hard time reading the drive and system hanged randomly

I formatted drive today after many months and it seems to be...

Unfortunately I have just one RAM chip of 1 GB , so I can' t test that :(

Fried graphics chipset: I dont have any separate chip, its all in mobo, so if they got burned then both (graphics+mobo)...

a. Its hard to judge from a SATA but I don't think that there is any activity in disks


b.Yes, the keyboard lights do flash


I don't think that it has anything to do with the MBR, if MBR was...

So is there any way for me to confirm that the mobo is gone?

I am having a problem which I now starting to become more and more frequent , while doing some CPU intensive tasks like playing games, running vm machines my computer shuts down abruptly ,...

my computer has xp running, I had installed vista along with it .

but in winodows xp i cannot find the files of vista any where
(like if you install xp and 98 on same machine than you can...

thanks .. to narrow down the problem i unplugged the hard disk cable and kept the pc running .... the problme still appeared .. computer hung for a while and than got shutdown ...so we can say...

I see many 40 pin cables coming out of the motherboard to which I can connect hard disks, does each of them represent a IDE channel ?

Does the ide controller exist in the hard disk itself and only the IDE host exists in the PC mother board?

If yes than how can I find out that how many IDE hosts my mother board had and how many...
