The Arctic cooling NV Silencer 1 would do the job. Silencers are known to keep a video card cool.

You might have played with the display settings. Sometimes when we switch the display to a secondary monitor or projector, the primary display will shrink. It might be something like that.

Are you sure you dont have an AGP slot or PCI-Express slot? Check the color of the slot where your video card is connected to and if it is not aligned with the other slots.

I prefer ATI over NVidia since their Radeon 9000 series was released. In my opinion their cards are more powerful. NVidia's Geforce 5000 series has has it's share of problems but not the Radeon 9000...

The FX5500 has a core clock of 270mhz and memory clock of 400mhz, the Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro has a core of 400mhz and memory of 446mhz. The FX5500 isnt as good as the 9600 Pro.

If you truely have this monitor, you haven't read its model number correctly. Sony's PVM series has no 4300 model and the latest monitor in this series was made in 1994.

Try one at a time in different ports (I suppose you have two if you can plug two together). Do they both flicker? If they both flicker, try replacing your video card with a spare one or borrow one...
