In that case I expect data recovery to be very expensive. I have no idea just how expensive it will be tho as I am in the UK.

There are 2 possibilities.

1 - Place the hard drive in a zip bag then put it in the freezer overnight. It's a long shot, but it could get it to work for a short time.

Ata hard drive's have 2 settings. Master or slave.

One thing that can work for a while is to put the faulty hard drive into a resealable bag and stick it in the freezer over night.

From now on, always back up any data you don't want to loose.

There are no jumper settings on a sata hard drive. Just set the boot order correctly in your bios and you should be good.

Searck the net for a bios update for your computer, that may well sort the problem as most pc's were designed long before 1tb drives existed.
