he said he's already done that to no avail. I would suggest just doing a HJT log if non of the scanners seemed to help.

i would suggest leaving his broswer the same. really i use IE and i havnt got an infection on my computer for months. just some cookies here or there. but i have a pretty good setup on my machine...

try www.sysinfo.org (http://www.sysinfo.org) thats where most check their HJT logs against, its got a fairly complete list of BHO's and startup items, and for anything you cant find. just google it.

i run spywareblaster and adaware and spybot, i run both adaware then spy bot. then i run spyware and check for updates and reimunize if neccesary. that way i dont have to scan very often.

have you tried adaware, spybot search and destroy, and spyware blaster (keeps it from ever being installed) if those fail to do the trick then hijackthis.

if you take the name of the trojan to symantec they should have an automated solution for you. its one of the great things they do, they write tools to remove a trojan based on type.
