flash saftly depends on your motherboard ,so check with them .remove any floppy disk from machine, enter bios and set defaults ,save and exit ,boot again

f2 is bypassing any bios/setup errors ,hit f1 and run setup/bios ,make sure time and date are correct ,set bios to defaults,save changes and reboot

its hard to say from a distance ,if you re-assembled the maching , if you have a addin video card as opposed to onboard video device make sure that the video card is plugged into motherboard...

4 or 5 yrs is not really old ,i have one that about 8 yrs old and all i did to find the ram was take a small screw drive and remove the covers on the back/bottom ,flip it over should be 2 or 3 small...

hi ,you need to take laptop apart to remove the onboard bios battery for a few hrs and then reconnect ,this should reset bios to the defaults ,before someone put a bios password in

hi, except for the psu ,none of the things you changed are actually needed to make a computer TURN on,[not completely bootup but turn on ]sounds to me like a dead motherboard

ok, try unplugging all drives and mouse ,keyboard and turn it on see what happens,if same thing remove ram and try ,same thing ,remove it all from the compaq box and set it up on the table and try it...

hi ,try what is referred to a bench test ,remove his motherboard and all components from the computer case and set it up complete on the bench outside the box ,see if it will run,it may be shorting...

that the 2 supported speeds of ram it will take !
you could likely run it with pc2- 6400 but it will only run at the higher of the 2 supported speeds
