Try installing a different application(other than Adobe) to open PDF's
like Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/).

Check Tools>Options; Advanced tab; click Config Editor.. button; filter for 'sound' and ensure that mail.biff.play_sound is 'false'.

If so, my guess is that your profile is corrupt. Maybe try...

Try this...Create a new folder on your computer's hard drive and then copy the contents of the CD to that folder; now run the setup from the hard drive location.
