in my 12 yrs of computers i never knew wmp could format a thumb drive .did you go to control panel ,admin tools ,disk management and see if it shows there and format it there

hi ,sounds like you need to troubleshoot the card reader on the computer ,i would uninstall the reader and reinstall it first ,do this via the device manager .

no power lite ,indicates a wiring error in my opinion ,does your switch have indivigaul wire for each part ,psw led , and hdd led rest ect ect ,if yes some make sure the + and - are on correct pins....

this part would make me check the front panel switches where it plugs into the motherboard!

my laptop harddrive case has 2 usb plugs one for data one for power! i paid 25$ cdn for enclosure and picked up a 40gig hdd for free !

i use a 40 GIG LAPTOP DRIVE IN A usb EXTERNAL CASE all the time to carry files/programs ,and in my opinion are more reliable than my thumbdrive i have had over time!

you can partition it into 4x 32 gb partitions and have use of the whole drive

slave it to a working xp computer and format it in xp's diskmanager

i have never see such a large drive in action ,but i see no reason why it wouldn't work as a storage dive ,and as for size it would depend on your need !

if you are just going to use it as a usb storage device it should work ,if you are going to want to boot to it with windows installed on it then it may not work
