for a small network, I suppose a simple SBS server should do. if you are unfamiliar with this technology, do spend a few more quid on an IT pro who will come out and set it up for you.

this is known to be an issue with older motherboards. they just would not POST with a USB device attached. a bios update might fix it, as I have mentioned.

disable the firewall
disable the ToE functionality
reset winsock
update the NIC drivers to the latest ones
replace the switch to make sure the switch is not causing this

either look for a way to translate the cmd windows to codepage 864, or look for the following keywords:
arabic dos characters ascii

this is all pretty old stuff, you might want to try some arabic...

not sure about arabic, but I have had russian and hebrew programs run under dos, using a TSR driver. it's a small piece of software that loads into memory and changes the display of the language...

could be that your user doesn't have the correct permissions for the paths

use the SET command to configure your environment

set path=c:\;c:\windows; ...
set prompt=$p$g

during logon, the prompting for username/password window can be expanded, it is possible your user logged in locally, and all the settings are in the domain enabled...

AD services can only be installed on a server OS.
2008 requires at least 512Mb RAM, and will run very slowly on that.

need more info - what server you are using, is the ftp service running and accessible from the wan and the lan, what ports are open for the ftp, what OS is used etc

you can get the services.msc MMC alright.
but if you want server specific stuff you need to install the adminpack - that will allow you to create MMC consoles to server specific services.
