Go into the routers configuration settings and make sure that DHCP is enabled.

The router is your DHCP server and will issue IP addy's for all computers hooked to your LAN dynamically.

Hi Jayne.

Looks as though your new laptops network adaptor sees the wireless router downstairs as your network lists as available.

You need to make sure that the laptops settings are identical...

Nah.....this just means that your computers IP addy is assigned dynamically by DHCP.

If connection is established, but IE wont display the web page, its an issue with the embedded browser itself...

What exactly do you mean by 'It didnt work'?

When you open your browser (IE7) do you get an error message, and does the same thing occur...

Yeah, shutdown, remove the Linksys NC100 fast ethernet adaptor and reboot.

We will use the Intel pro 100 ve for attempted connection.

Go to the control panel again - network connections....

You say you have tried Winsockfix so that covers that area.

Also say you have run ipconfig/release.....what showed up?
Did it show the usual IP assigned to the ethernet.
Is the ethernet DHCP'd...

Your logfile is clean and there's nothing untoward in there that should be stopping us.

Just an old remenant of the AVG8 uninstall that you can have HJT take out if you like

You can send a new log if you like and as long as your logged in as Admin, nothing else should matter.

Lets have a look and see if there's anything lurking in your registry that shouldn't be!

Download a copy of HiJackThis and save it to a folder on your desktop.

Do a scan and save a logfile.
