First thing i would do is find out what motherboard you have, go on the internet and find some info about it.

The beeps are probably warning messages coming from it.... but its odd its doing it...

I would try to contact the Dell and see if they can tell you anything.

Possible things that could be wrong:
The power jack inside the laptop is defective
The power source you are...

You said you bought it? Is the power supply designed for your laptop or is it supposed to be a "universal" one?

Most of them say "universal" but they hardly are... i have a Gateway 7422gx that is...

If you can try going into BIOS. Most BIOS systems will tell you the CPU tempature and will actually shut down your PC if the CPU is getting to hot to prevent damage.

My CPU normally runs around...

I have a full size one and love it. Its extremly quite for how many fanes it has and it cools down my system...
