Your monitor should not be effected by your power supply in the least bit...


The only thing I can think is that A) your video card doesn't have enough power to work, or B) you shorted something...

I must be weird, but I have problems with high refresh rates :)

But I cannot advise setting the refresh rate higher than what the manufature told you to have it set at.

If your firewire device cannot be started chances are you have the wrong drivers for it, you should try your pc makers website.

No i insisted on using the same ram and processor for testing purpuses, it made a huge difference in Doom 3's gameplay

Actually it does, there is a much higher ammount of data that can be transfered in 8x when compared to 4x, Ive seen it personaly. We moved my friend from a motherboard with 4x to one that supported...

You should be able to use it, most 8x cards are capable of 4x. However you will not get the full preformance out of the video card.

For a good reason cat, Doom3 was developed ON the Geforce line, and the Gefoce serries has better support with opengl2, the Ati X800 will preform fine on Doom3.

eh, dont bother, laptop monitors are ok at best, most dont beat a CRT
